Help! Job search.
Hi folks! just back from consultation with emmigration group employee, and although very informative and interesting, my wife and i nearly died when he said it would cost in the region of £10,000 - around 30,000 nz dollars for their services to emmigrate to new zealand.I think we need to look into doing the groundwork ourselves. I think the best way would be to get a job offer first. Can anyone suggest the best sites or places to go for help. Thanks so much. John.

Re: Help! Job search.
Hi there
In shock at the figures they have quoted you. Did you go for the FULL service if you are you really do not need all of it.
Were using a emigration consultancy in the UK and were British Forces doing all the consultancy etc for overseas and its not costing us anywhere near that.
I would check for what they are doing for that kind of money. And then shop around because that looks expensive to me.
What does anyone else think?

Sounds an awful lot of money for a lot of things you can do yourself. Infact, you would have to do a lot of it yourself even with an agent to be honest, like getting all your paperwork together and evidence of relationship, work employment history etc. You can contact employers directly......what line of work are you in? Why not look at the list of accredited employers on the NZIS website

You can always ask away on here you know. That's how most of us managed to do it without using an agent. You'll find that the questions you have will have probably been asked before so someone is bound to know or able to point you in the right direction. Save your money for other things like medicals,EOI and ITA fees , container etc. That's my advice, for what it's worth.

That good advice from weejie.
Despite using an consultancy we still have had to supply (find) all the relevant documents etc. And by the time you have filled in forms for job history you may as well have written your CV yourself. Were using an interview ready service as well because of my husbands specialist Military background it can be a bit complicated, but if you civvy you may not need all this.
I would only recommend using consultant if you feel you want less worry and more assurance. Otherwise i don't think if can be that difficult. Maybe someone else who has done it themselves can give you better info than me.
Its the waiting that's killing us
Have you tried http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-me-jobs/index.htm for jobs, rentals, house buying etc? There a bit like Ebay but simpler and much better.
People have been really helpful to us on here so just fire away questions and check out the searches as everyone has asked all the questions going (Think we are winning prizes for the most daft )
Good luck with everything and please feel free to PM if you want anything.

What can I say, some of you on here have filled in forms of some kind or other, thats all it takes.
Read the infomation on Immergration nz, and you can't go wrong, as I heard that agents hold paper work for weeks before they tell you that they need this and we need that so it looks good for them and gets you so stressed out that you start thinking are we doing the right thing. And then wham you get a bill for work they have done and you jacked it in all for nothing just money which could be used for shipping or buy a car when you get to NZ.
I may sound negitive but who's money are you spending when all the pennys need counting and spent properly.
Regards
Stan

I agree about having a job offer in place. Points mean prizes when it comes to the skilled migrant category
I am a storeman in the railways but a bookbinder and print finisher to trade. My wifes a social care worker
Are you ? What C&G /quals/ apprenticeship do you have? Normally that was done via apprenticeship. I take it you are not a typesetter.
I well remember the days of print workers , unions and pension schemes
How long have you been out of the trade ? I'm sure you realise that a storeman will not help an NZ immigration case.

Ten grand . Are they having a laugh Even if you did need extra help with getting through NZ emigration policy, I can't see it costing GBP ten grand.
