Hi,
On a brighter note, i'm in the process of starting up my own painting and decorating business to run side by side with the career as a fireman, one slight problem, i cannot think of a decent name for the business, i've had a few ideas but not too sure on them, can you come up with a name !
I thought of 'Touched Up' but thought that some people may get the wrong idea or be offended, thought of 'Brushed & Rolled' but again, not too sure.... please help !!!

It's a tough one...we set up our own plumbing business, thought of all sorts of names then settled on our surname initials A & M (which puts us at the beginning of phone listings) plumbing and heating, and the area we live, gives clients all the info they need and shows we're local not from the souless big city!! Good signwriting on vehicle does great advertising wherever you go too....but i like some of the others ideas you've had

Hey Fireman Al, have you started up your own painting & decorating business? What are you called? We will need some decorating done in the next 12 mths & would prefer to use someone I 'know'

Thanks for all the suggestions......toyed with "Flaming Painters" but in the end have gone with 'Brushed & Rolled'........

don't want to rain on your parade but some people get a bit arsey when you use a name they are trading under.....
On a lighter note, if you need business advice, Rodney Economic Development Council are down the side of Betta Electrical in Orewa, just over the road from Sir Ed's statue. Steve Ryder (not the one off the telly but a Pomm) there is pretty helpful and they run seminars dealing with business startup, dealing with the IRD, etc, etc
If you decide that will take too much time check out:
www.nzte.govt.nz
and get their booklet "Helping You Develop Your Business Plan" as it has most of the important stuff in there....although lots of it won't apply to you, Steve will post you a copy if you want
