Cool Help!!!

My husband and I are looking at moving to New Zealand to start a new life for ourselves.
He is a painter and decorator and I work for the local council in Adult Care. We have no children but would like to bring our pet cat. We have found out that you really need a job offer before applying, how do you get yourself a job offer while living in the United Kingdom. Would we be best visiting and finding an offer of employment then. Any help or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Seems to be a popular activity of late.

Not cheap if you want to bring the cat.

If you don't have enough points based on your qualifications and work experience, then yes, getting a job offer is paramount. It would help if your job is on the long-term skills shortage list as this would help with securing permanent residence (PR).
As for getting a job offer here in New Zealand while you are in the UK, well, it ain't gonna be easy. Those who get offers from outside New Zealand probably have specialist skills that are in dire need here in New Zealand. Your best bet is probably to come here to New Zealand and start your job. Sure, it's a big punt with no guarantees, but you gotta be in to win as the saying goes.

Good luck.

Painter and Decorator is on the New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS) Immediate Shortage List - occupation reference 332211

In New Zealand:
NZ Register Level 4 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
It's best to have boots on ground for a job offer. That way both you and the employer see what they are getting for their dollars. As the trade is on the Immediate Shortage List you may need to look at the Work to Residence visa. For that you need $50K per annum.

Oh !.... and bring your cat. We brought both of ours and they have a heck of a good time.
