Hello NZ & Wellington!
Hi everyone,
This seems to be a fun board
Just popped on to say hello, esp to those in Welly. I'm off to live there beginning Nov with my younger sister, mainly to spend time with my older sister and her family (two little 'uns) who live there. Can't wait, will be quite a gathering!
We'll both be working out there for a year (hopefully one something to do with the environment, the other research), using a Temporary Work Visa. Neither of us are on the short skills list, has anyone else got any advice on this?! It seems quite hard getting a job without actually being in the country! Never mind, we'll keep trying.
Also, has anyone any experience either using or being house sitters?
Cheers! Bye for now!

If you are in the age range - 18 to 30 I think - you might want to consider a Work Holiday Visa.

Hi Wilma & co - yes definitely, a girls night out in Wellington sounds fun!! Looking forward to the Sauvignon Blanc drinking
happynz, unfortunately we both had a Work Holiday Visa when back packing a few years ago. It seemed a really good idea at the time as thought might need some money to help us out, although in the end we didn't use it and now regretting it big time!!
Never mind, looking into it further I think we're going to keep on applying for jobs from the UK, and if no luck enter NZ on a visitors visa and keep on trying over there. Hopefully, fingers crossed, this should be easier for interviews etc.
Thanks guys for your messages!
