We're hoping (fingers crossed!) to relocate to Christchurch area. Where are you and how have you found it generally?

Hi Chippy
I live pretty close Christchurch central.
On a clear day I can see the Alps and rush hour here lasts about 15 minutes.
I lived in Chatham for around 9 months and having spent quite a few friday evenings stuck in northbound traffic (To the M1) I don't miss that.
When I first arrived some people told me that everything was dollar to pound equivalent (i.e. something ten quid in uk would cost ten dollars here).
Because commodities from oil to dary products are now all traded on the global market that just isn't so.
The quality of life here is great and I only mention the price thing because it should be taken into account when you are thinking about wages.
Like most countries the housing market is cooling so if you are bringing cash you may pick up a good price for a house.
I had never had a dog before I came here so I'm not sure about the facilities in the UK but in and around Christchurch there are some great dog parks where pooches can socialise off the lead.
There are new bars and restaurants popping up around the place (like most good Uk towns).
I could probably waffle on for ages but although I'm new to this site I think you need more specfic questions to filter out my rantins.
Hope this is useful
