Hello To All Members
I did a quick introduction on the main Forum, but I'll repeat it here.
Myself, wife, daughter and Newfoundland dog called Hagrid arrived in
late June never having been to NZ and with no job or any offers of one.
We have settled in very well staying with best friends until we can secure
full time employment then look for our own place to rent initially.
My wife has secured a Part-Time PE Teaching post and it may, only may
turn in to Full Time, fingers crossed.
I might do a Swimming job that is up for grabs the pay is dire but at
least it's a start. I would prefer the Domestic Violence Arena as that
is the area I worked in back in the UK.
Nice talking to you.
Higgy and family.

Hi there and welcome to this cosy little NZ forum.
I read from your intro in the Welcome Inn that you are a retired police officer & that your wife is a teacher?
I'm very interested in this. I'm interested in all things NZ Immy though
What route did you use to gain the resident visa please?

We came over on a Residence Visa without work but since being
here Carole has secured a Part-Time PE job, we are hoping that
this may become permanent.

My wife was the Applicant and we got in just on her Teaching Qualifications
and an hours telephone interview with NZ Immigtation London.
One of the lucky ones i suppose.

Huh?
I've just seen you suggest that a Maths teacher will find work quickly here in NZ which isn't the general consensus of teachers.
Am just interested in your points under the SMC, as that would really, really help other teachers out there who have been struggling.
As you seem to have done it recently, it could give hope to others on this board who are struggling.

Just thought that Maths would be an easy subject in getting work. What
do I know I'm just new here. No idea what points we had but it was under
140.

No worries mate.
I see a truck driver who gained a residents visa , I want it out here for all other truck drivers too, as presently 99% can't get NZ residency at all.
Just felt the same about this. Was a bit of a find if you know what I mean.

hardly "Spanish Inquisition"
the forum is here to help and support people and your experience seems to be very different from a lot of others so if you could share it may help someone else.
if not then not but does seem a shame not to share

Hi Higgy2 & a very warm to our cosy NZ forums.
We are a nosy lot aren't we but we don't mean it in a bad way, BE is about asking questions, sharing information, having discussions, making friends & having a bit of banter (& sometimes falling out a bit ). Just like it is in my Gaulish village by the sea
Sadly, I would think that there's plenty of work in the domestic violence arena here.
Happy posting

Re: Hello To All Members
Might be way off here but if they arrived in June with the residence visa in place then the application could well have gone in before teaching came off the LTSSL in December, meaning the bonus points would have helped them get pulled from the pool Just thinking out loud
