Default Heartland New Zealand?

'Heartland' New Zealand? What is it, where is it? Does anyone actually know? Is it a time, is it a place, I don't know?

Do you think after six years in NZ we might be able to name one songs we might expect from a CD entitled:

'Ten Guitars' 40 Songs from Heartland New Zealand

Erm, Pokarekare ana, perhaps?

Surely even those Kiwi country music fans wouldn't dare to claim Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers singing Islands in the Stream, had some inference to the North and South islands of NZ, eh?

Did I miss the Kiwi accent on those kids from Musical Youth? Pass The Dutchie on the left hand side.

Granted the lion man does get a brief mention in the Rivers of Babylon where we sat down and were remembering Zion, but come on...

Don't they say NZ is like the UK 30 years ago [or maybe 40 or 50 judging by that list].....

That's a bizarre selection of mainly non-Kiwi music. Most of those don't make me think of NZ, just make me think of growing up in the NE of England, watching TOTP and trying to find the decent stuff in my Dad's record collection
I do remember seeing Musical Youth on Blue Peter-does that make me old
