Default Health tests etc etc etc

out of curiosity
if you have to submit a medical, what do they check?
is it things like a blood test and blood pressure etc

Just want to know incase i get lucky soon, as then i will hit the gym harder to ensure i'm in tip top shape

Is that medical done at any doctors or some NZ immigration specialist?

and what about the chest X ray, how do you request one of them if your ok?

Also if your from the UK, is the police check a CRB check? like when you apply for certain jobs?

How do you get one of them and how much is it?

Hi ...you do have to have a medical & chest x-ray which you submit with your visa application. These have to be done by approved NZIS Doctors & Radiologist, all information re medicals, police certs etc can be found on NZIS web site.
Medical does involve blood tests, BMI checks, sight test, etc have a look at the form on NZIS, also worth looking at medical examiners handbook on same site for more info re acceptable BMI, waist measurements etc. Its worth phoning around the panel (approved) Dr's (listed on NZIS) tho as prices do vary, same re X-rays.
The police certs are not same as CRB checks....again all info on NZIS site. Check the time limits for both med & police check......then hit the gym!!

Good luck

Police Cert info for the UK is here it is totally different to a CRB check. Cost is currently £35 for the standard turnaround (2 weeks or so), £70 for the quick service.

Chest x-ray is arranged by the NZIS panel doctor. If you go through the panel list on the NZIS website there are links to those clinics that have websites with their prices etc etc. You may as well download and print the medical form as you will have to pre-complete some info on it in any case...

We had to arrange our own x ray they are on the NZIS website with the doctors. Check out the prices for both x ray and medical as they do vary from surgery to surgery.

We did the x ray a few days before the medical so it could be sent to the medical practice
