Default Havelock North

Ok, for hubby's b'day. He want's to go to Havelock North. He is a Kiwi but said he has never been there. So personally would prefer Venice but work with me on this. A nice little hotel, walking distance to good resturants, (although I will be driving, so not so much of a deal). And no I checked one which I wont name but I do not want to pay $700 for 2 nights.
All you Hawks Bay peeps!

I usually stay in Havelock North when ever I am in the Bay for business.

If you are looking for accomidation at $150-$200/night, there is plenty of choice and it's all pretty good, if you are ok with motel style units. Standard is good, spa baths, good TV, wifi etc.

All within easy walking distance of the restaurant strip.

H.N. is pleasant enough, it is a good location for exploring the region.

I've been to Havelock North but stayed in Napier, they do vineyard wine things occasionally.

Havelock North Motor Lodge is right in village and is the one my extended family use most - the one bed apartments have spa baths. Not sure how it is for noise at weekends but the units are set back? Harvest Lodge should be alright too, its under new management and haven't heard good or bad since the changeover. Mangapapa and Hawthorne House are both luxury accomodation apart from price tag they are also rural.

Wine Country Motor Lodge is a bit of a walk back to the village but flat.

Good luck and enjoy your trip, lots on offer and make sure to go to the farmers market at the Hastings showgrounds on the Sunday morning its well worth it
