Happy New Year to all
Didn't manage to see it in but hey ho...having a four week old will do that to NY celebrations!
2008 for me just started with an email from New Zealand saying the job offer is now written and in the post
Just medicals to go!
Slightly worrying that I got an email on New Years Day... do Kiwi's ever take time off work or do I just have a dedicated recruitment company?
Anyway, hope everyone's wishes come true for 2008

Also congratulations on the job offer, that's wonderful! Word of warning... wait until you actually receive it before booking your medicals. My job offer took nearly 2 weeks to not show up before they posted another one. That one made it, but by that time we didn't have time to apply for visas etc so we just came over as visitors and got refundable return tickets.
New Year's Day with you is already the 2nd with us, albeit pretty early in the work day, that's jolly good service you're getting there!

Thanks for advise Maz - fortunately application for PR is in hubby's name and so have done all paperwork with his job offer. Got this towards the end of last year so mine is just an added bonus

p.s.
Hope you're right...daughter is 16 months and has never slept through a night in her life. Am 32 going on 50 in energy terms

Yep 4-week olds will definitely screw up your sleep pattern! Won't be long until the little one is sleeping through the night.

Don't think my sanity would be intact (well, partially ) if I'd gone 16 months without a complete night's sleep.

Looking up the Ferber method as we speak
Ahhhh controlled crying!...never heard the Ferber name before now though!
Saddens me to say that been there tried that, several times over. Daughter is incredibly persistent and has managed to continue hollering for two hours + before now. Will definitely try implementing sooner rather than later with son though.

Re: Happy New Year - 2008
Two definite upsides:
1) Meant we chose to have our second child quickly as we couldn't face going back to sleepless nights further down the line. This meant we could move to NZ sooner rather than later as we were always adamant that we would have the family here first
2) Am always up at rediculous times making it very easily to communicate with New Zealand
You're right - there's always an upside. A useful thing to remember for 2008 me thinks!!!!
