JUST WANT TO PICK SOME BRAINS !!!! (FIRST TIME POST)
ME AND MY OH AND KIDS ARE LOOKING AT THE MOVE NEXT YEAR
(AUG 2013 ONWARDS)
MY OH IS A STYLIST , AND THIS IS THE "CATCH 22" AS NORMAL
(NEED JOB OFFER FOR VISA BUT ALL JOBS WE HAVE SEEN SAY YOU NEED VISA/PERMIT)
HAS ANYONE HAD A JOB OFFER BEFORE GETTING TO NEW ZEALAND
(IN HAIRDRESSING )
WE ARE JUST ABOUT TO DO SOME LEG WORK AND EMAILING SALONS
AND ASKING IF THEY HAVE OFFERED JOBS OR WOULD THEY OFFER
HOPE YOU ALL UNDERSTAND MY QUESTIONS

Re: HAIR STYLIST JOB SEARCH
Pretty sure Hair dresser is not on either the LTSS list or the ISSL list (please correct me if i'm wrong) - so even if you have a job offer, you would not be allocated a visa as you would not pass the labour market test.
Another option is a work to residency visa from an an accredited company (but without looking through the very long list, which is on immigration.govt.nz) I dont know if hairdressers would be on it.
Unfortunately its not just a 'catch 22' as there are other strings attached.
Good luck with everything, sorry to be negative, but i'm sure someone else will come up with some good advice.

Re: HAIR STYLIST JOB SEARCH
Yes. It was done around 7 years ago by a hairdresser with managerial skills however this was way before the global economic downturn.
Hairdressing is seen as a skilled occupation so in theory you could think about the Skilled Migrant category but you really would need a job offer to stand a good chance of being selected.
Does your OH have management experience or quals? A salon manager would give you a better chance. Also, I wold expect that if your OH has won some awards in this field that would maybe help with the job search
NZ Assn of Hairdressers
Good luck.

BEVS
thanks for that, yes she had her own salon for 8 years.
so that should not be a problem.
well we have 12 months of leg work and try to find
someone that would offer a job.
