G'won then. Fess up . Who's already got their heating on ?

Not us , I hasten to add. We're well hard.

Several Kiwis around us though have been lighting their wood burners the past few evenings. Woosies !. Need to toughen up !

Funny I was looking at last year's thread as I thought we were doing pretty well so far this year compared to previous years. Evenings have been a little on the cool side but nothing we can't cope with so far.

I have smelled some wafting wood smoke on the air but we're staying staunch and not going there (yet) - this may well change tomorrow but remain hopeful we can see though another week or two until closer to May. Almost every day for some weeks has been so fabulously bright and sunny, except for today we had some wain but still very mild.

Haha! Well.... we do live right down the bottom of Australia and the nights are getting a bit chilly. Had the small heater on for a few hours, warm and toasty bedroom.

I do miss radiators... leaving one on for a bit, closing door and coming back with a coffee to settle in for the day watching the snow outside.... bliss.....

We've had the central heating on for weeks, it's been bloomin cold down here.

Cant wait on the shops opening back up.
I'm going invest in a proper Duvet this year from next or M&S delivery. not a fan of the NZ duvets and cover systems they use at all.
Bought one those winter NZ ones last year just doesn't cut the mustard kept waking up in the middle night freezing. OMG even had to wear Pjs never worn them since I was about 8.

Pro tip - just buy two duvets and put them in the same duvet cover.

I've been using my heating every evening for a couple of weeks.

Well that's quite a challenge in itself; would at least give you a workout and save on gym fees for the week.

My advice would be to pace yourself, take some breaks if you need to and drink plenty of water.

I was thinking that myself. I struggle to get one in properly. Never mind trying to tackle 2.
Is that what NZers do use 2 duvets?

Well we've started on the slippery downhill slope - I have had to put socks and a jumper on tonight for the first time since last November.

it was good while it lasted! Today was just a tad too parky for my liking. I've tried all the usual the old tricks: but sitting here socks and jumper on and being wrapped up like on old granny in a shawl and cuddling a hot mug of coffee were not doing it for me, so I flipped the switch on heat pump. Roll on November!

So yesterday did it for me. Double socks and 4 layers. A good brisk walk around the block but my handies were turning blue once back inside my own house so I lit the log burner.
I see the snow is back on The Ranges but it is clear and sunny so I will be able to get away with lighting it later hopefully. That's it then for the next 4 1/2 months at least. BBrrr.
