Gulp - is it possible to go in 3 months
Hi all
I've been around the forum for a while, in and out - keeping in time with our aspirations to move to NZ and my attitude to my current employer.
To cut a long story short I looked for (pretty specialist) employment in NZ last year only to find the ideal job had come & gone and another was unlikely to follow soon. After much grief at work I decided to leave and resigned over the Summer knowing that 2 UK employers had positions for me. However, as I was deciding where to go another job in Auckland came up that I have now applied for.
The closing date is the end of the week and their HR people say no need to get EOI (skilled migrant PR) in before any offer is made - however, they also say you must be able to start in 3 months of any offer being accepted.
Is this possible? Should I have got the EOI (which is complete but only at 120 pts without a job offer) into the pool yesterday to meet the selection for today or is this all unrealistic?
At least I shall be able to take on the whole moving thing full time at the end of October as that is when my notice period ends.....
As far as preparation goes we have Police Forms ready to send, wife may well have a "racing cert" job but her registration to practice seems to take forever too and I couldnt run the EOI with her a principal applicant as she only wants to work P/T on arrival. Damn the timescales......

No problem at all - did the same and OH started work as required. Visa arrived the morning he flew out but NZ Immigration turned it around in less than a week.
Bit stressul to say the least and you may need a long lie down in a darkened room to recover but nevertheless can be done!
Good luck

my "mole" inside the employer says (via email this morning!) that we need to get things moving as the Institute do not really understand the full implications of the move although they are bona fide employers wrt NZIS.
Gonna make some enquiries of the local doctors today.
kind regards

Hi there,
we only put our EOI in at the end of July, accepted almost immediately, PR paperwork went in 25th August, Visa in my hand 26th September (and that included fraught 2 week wait over medicals), so yes, it is possible to have it done and dusted in 3 months from start to finish!
I surmised from your comment about wife's registration that she is a nurse? That took longer than the above, but I had my registration through before I began applying for jobs
Hope some of this is helpful
Good luck

As far as "Home" goes we're looking at Albany/Torbay - google earth shows Albany as a building site!! - but it does help to be able to look down on the real estate - someone says NASA have more up to date sat images - anyone know where??
Maybe we could live in Mount Albert and Lisa could commute to Hibiscus Coast against the flow - doubt it as she'll be sorting the kids!!
Other job (same employer) for her is in Henderson (N/S - who knows/) - then we'll be looking at Titirangi (as a suggestion from both HR depts) - but not practical for Hibiscus Coast I fear.

Yeah there is loads of building going on in Albany, both houses and a huge shopping mall. Torbay is 5 minutes from where I live.
You will find the commute to town a pain but there is the park and ride which a mate of mine uses and another mate who works in town chooses to start at 7.30 so she pretty much misses the rush (she drives in)
Not sure about NASA images but I have a link on my home page of their space image of the day so I'll see if I can find any links from there.
Sounds like you have had a very productive night and got loads achieved. Well done you you deserve a nice big now.
