This Sunday we will be meeting some friends in Derbys. before they go for six months in December, they have a house in Gisborne and have had residency since April.

These are a few pictures of Akarora and environs. It is a lovely drive from Christchurch. The tourist drive route is very quiet, but the narrow roads that hug the hill may be a little un-nerving for people of the same disposition as my wife.

Stunning beaches, huge mountains, penguins, trees, naked ladies, veiws, gardens you name it

Here I are some of Lyttleton. The ship is the new HMNZS Canterbury. You may have heard in the news that a sailor from the ship recently drowned in an accident.

Views from the windows of Te Papa yesterday
This is the Maori carving over the door of the marae in Te Papa. It was the first carved with Western tools.
It depicts Rangi and Papatuanuku
Rangi and Papatuanuku, the sky father and earth mother, were the parents of all creation. The sons of these two were the elements of life, and one son Tane, created the first woman.
