Yes that pic speaks words, a kinda Grolsch moment
I love the cloud formations you get here & they change very fast. If you change some cloud shots to B & W they can be really dramatic.
THe first pic is Rangitoto volcano ( the largest in Auckland) taken from Takapuna.
Cheers

These two were taken a a few minutes between and it was one of those different lighting situations. Not a sunset but almost the clouds were coloured. Taken at Still Water
Seen that in Africa where you get the dust storms.

Funny you should say that as I worked in Nigeria for 2 yrs and saw the Harmattan" sand storms that even the UK can get some droppings of if the wind is wrong
.
My Lake Huron pic was more than a Grolsh moment it was a fish of a lifetime to me

Used to do a lot of trout fishing in Scotland and did some tiger fishing on the Zambezi. Gotta watch the Hippo's there, esp if they are with calf. They walk under the water on the river-bed and they will come up under your boat if they feel you are a threat. Of course they got plenty crocs too. Had a couple of close encouteres with hippo.
My brother is up in BC ( CA) and a very keen fisherman. Always wanted to see the bears catchin the salmon.
Went out on a mussel harvester here ( in Coromandel) and it was criminal, not sure if it is like that all the time but the snapper were snappin'.

Silhouette was taken in Tamaki Drive ( Oraki Auckland). The rough surf was out by Forrest Hill on the west coast of Akl which has an awesome moto-x track. You are also allowed to drive on the beach but will need a 4wd or off-road bike. I went about 30 kms up the beach. The reflection could be anywhere in NZ.
It’s Sunday here in NZ and we’re hooking up our bicycles on the back of the car and off out. There is a great cycle track that runs from the edge of the city, I think it starts at Mechanics Bay ( the Coastguard H.Q. and helli-port) and goes right up to St Helliers. It's flat all the way and is cool for our wee lad (4 y/o).
Hope you have a good Sunday ( or Sat night).

Re: The Great NZ picture thread - Auckland
Somebody was asking for pics of Auckland. Don’t do too many of the city so these are the best I can offer. Been wanting to go into the city and do some shots but it is always a time thing and of course on the weekend you really don’t want to go to the city.
1. Looking back @ Auckland from St Helliers
2. PWC building opposite the Auckland viaduct
3. Sunrise in Mission Bay ( my very first day in NZ )
4. Looking back at Auckland from Tamaki Drive ( & thinking we must get a boat !)
