Got our PR....at last, only took a while.
4 years ago we started our move to NZ, Got offered a job. Applied for PR only for it being denied by the NZQA. We then tried the work visa route. This we did and ended up in Christchurch for a year. We had to leave mainly because our house did not sell in the UK. We almost went broke. So we came back with almost nothing. Two years later, same kiwi employer (nice people to work for) and we have now got our PR and are going to go back. To see our kids faces when we told them was well worth the wait. So its house up for sale (been doing it up all this time) and go as soon as we get the money.
The first time we applied we used an immigration company to do the work for us. That cost £2k (excluding NZIS fees). This time because we don't have much money (lost it all during the first time) we did the paperwork ourselves, well the wifey did it (clever girly). Its only taken from October to now, it would have been quicker but we had a scare with one of the kids who had shown blood in his urine and we had to get him seen too. Turns out he is ok and no worries. As soon as we had this sorted we got an email Wed confirming we have been approved. Our oldest son is 16 today (Thursday) but yesterday when we got the news the wifey told him; Your Birthday would be today if we lived in NZ due to the time difference. He smiled even more.
Got to say the NHS people were fantastic in helping us. We wern't sure how we would be received regarding our sons health. They did nothing but support us and got us seen to. From our GP to the consultant. All done in 2 weeks. We thought we would have to go private as we expected to have to wait months. At least they take kids health seriously. So we wait until next week some time to get our passports back and paperwork. I will post later on that. So it just proves you can do the paperwork yourself, just take your time and think it through. Regards.
I forgot to add that we did not have to have an interview in person or on the tetephone. Probablly because we had been to NZ and had a history on their data base. Our case officer was really a nice helpfull man.

We originally wanted to live outside too. Nothing against the city at all. But a chance to buy a house with some land etc. Can't do that here. Loved Banks Penninsular and area as well as others.

Update!
We got our passports and paper work back very fast. All is in order and we have nice new blue stickers in them. Parcel came via the post office in one of those plastic sealed bags that are hard to open. All our documents were there too except for our medicals, they kept them or maybe destroyed them. We have 12 months to get there and i have to work for my employer for 3 months then the PR kicks in proper. I will be speaking to my old boss next week, hope there is still a job going. Kids are over the moon and can't wait to go. Just got to tell the family and friends all over again. Not looking forward to that, but i think most know we miss NZ. Will update as we progress.
