Just checked our two. Mine is going down to $112 and the wife's will be $85.

I'm just waiting for the kick, there's something behind this that's going
to cost us all a lot more than we are saving

This is interesting - a list of the cars and their bands:

http://www.acc.co.nz/PRD_EXT_CSMP/gr.../wpc137747.pdf

There is a bigger difference between the age of the cars than ones of similar size/price.

Not sure if the size or price makes a difference, Mazda 2 is the same as a Maserati and a Hummer.

Given that it is all based on crash data, not sure if that is good or bad.

Maserati - idiot drives off the road at high speed.

Hummer - idiot drives straight through the other car without slowing down.

I thought the Mazda 2 was a fairly safe car.

Mmmm, not sure why diesel cars gets pinged, mine checks out at $171 but would be $80 cheaper were it the petrol version!
These are only coming down because govt increased the charges too much previously, so they can hardly shout about the reductions.

While mentioning diesel cars, the diesel road user levy is very much a regressive tax with no account of fuel efficiency, anything up to 3.5 tonnes pays the same rate.

No movement on motorcycle rego.
It went through the roof a few years ago with the increase in acc levy
and while everything else is falling, it stays the same

We bikers get help in a crash situation.....the road safety peeps fit 'cheese cutter' wire lane dividers so St Johns can literally 'pick up the pieces'....

Every accident involving a motorcycle, regardless of who is at fault, is statistically classed as a motorcycle accident
So if the safest rider, doing nothing wrong, is hit by a drunk driver, it is still a motorcycle accident
This gives a false impression of the number of accidents. Motorcyclists tend to come off worse so need more assistance from acc (apparently) so we pay more levy
A lot more levy
