Getting a car on the road?

Getting a car on the road?
As usual I can't find a thread that previously answered my question:
How much does it cost to get a car onto the road once you've bought one in NZ. I'm almost positive that a previous thread suggested around $1000 per car but can't remember why or what the costs were for (Reg,wof.....?).
Could someone just confirm the costs involved? Thanks
Actually....what would also be really helpful is a website address for appropriate NZ dept?

Nothing, provided you buy a car with WOF and rego, which you'd be a bit silly to do without

12 month reg is about $180, WOF - approx 6 months unless younger than 3 yrs i think when its every 12 months. thats $47. plus insurance. I think for a new car to the country - i.e Jap import you probably have to pay a one off extra cost - unknown for plate.

you have 12 months from entry date to transfer your driving license (they check the passport) with just the theory test else you have to re-sit the full test. this website is excellent from practicing!
