The heat will ease her arthritis etc.
I think you've made a mistake.

A question that my mum would like to put to you all....for those of you who have made the move to new zealand...do any of you regret it in any way?
I have read articles on other websites that born and bred kiwis have attempted to live in the UK and have moved back to NZ they miss it that much.

Heck YES!! I wish I'd never heard of the feckless place biggest mistake of my life moving there, cost me thousands it did. Fortunately I managed to suss out Australia before I came back to Britain and was blown away by how modern and forward thinking it is, it was like being a kid in a candy store . As soon as my visa comes through I'll be off there.
Same idea too that perhaps Oz may be for us instead of just heading back to the UK. I think Australia will be the place of the future. Could be years ahead but when Europe is in a complete mess and the USA is on the decline, my kids and their kids could well be better of 'Down Under'. Could be wrong ...I'm not always right
