Gas bottles?
Moving into our first NZ house on Friday and just been told that the existing gas bottles are being sent back so if we want heating on, and oohhh we so do, we need to organise gas bottles to be delivered.
Present owner gets their gas from RockGas but I would like to ring round and get quotes.
anyone have any recommendations?

we use on gas 0800 841212. Not sure of the cost I just order and him indoors pays the bill. But they are good to deal with, and deliver quick.

Hi
We use Rockgas for our gas bottles for our fire. Just had 2 x LPG 45kg bottles delivered today in fact - Total exc GST was $177.94, with GST total invoice was $204.63.
There is a yearly charge too for the gas bottle rental - I think it's around $100.
We have a great service - quick delivery and installation.
We also had our electric bill in recently - over $500.00 this month

Re: Gas bottles?
thanks for the replies
have decided to go with Genesis as they have a promotion on giving a years free rental and their gas bottles seem to be at the lower end of the quotes.
they don't mess up

Re: Gas bottles?
no idea how long they last, depends on how much hot water you use. When one runs out, switch the supply to the other and call them out to replace the empty one.

As for how long they last, obviously it all depends on what you use them for. You tend to get a good idea of how long yours will last once the first bottle runs out.
We only use ours for the hob [oven is electric] and one gas fire in the living room. In winter using the fire every night a bottle will last 4-6 weeks. In summer [hob only, every night] it will last 6-8 months. The one that has just run out lasted 10 months-I was beginning to wonder whether we'd got some extraspecial neverending gas supply...

We went with Rockgas as the prices were comparable with other suppliers and they are connected to Contact [cheapest electric supplier for us] We get a discount for getting our gas and electricity from the same supplier, may be worth looking at whether your local suppliers do that.

I know - 5 of us in house, 'kids' - 21, 18 and 16 - everyone using lights, tv and laptops, plus dehumids x 2, washing, dryer, cooking, 5-bed house, all adds up unfortunately - it can only get better as they all move out eventually

We have 2x45kg bottles and phone for a new one when one runs out. They deliver within 2-3 days though we are in Chch city, could be different for rural folks. Depending on the time of year we place the order either straight away or we wait a few weeks. At the moment it is straight away [reminds me, I must order one!]

Caz, they are different bottles they are 4 times the size of the one you would use for the BBQ and are just used to run gas inside the house
