We are looking to initially rent a house around the North Shore area. How easy is it to find good quality furnished?

You could start by looking at Trade Me, here is an example, depends what your requirements are in terms of size and price etc. Good luck.

try holiday homes a tab on trade me this what we did it provided everything we needed, we rented a 1 bed place in Torbay others have rented bigger places

we got a motel for a couple of weeks until we found the right area and then used the local paper ads to find somewhere, the TradeMe stuff didn't cut it for us. but good rentals can be hard to find, and in the summer furnished ones especially so at short notice. you can try to get the local papers early by buying a copy at their offices before they are delivered - that worked for us. good luck

Furnished rentals in Devonport are hard to come by and expensive. We managed to rent an unfurnished place while we wait for our container. Managed to borrow some mattresses for the kids and got a few esstentials. If you need white goods to rent let me know and I can give you contact for really good value. It's amazing how little stuff you can get by with!!!
