Frustrated and Confused
Martin and I recently returned from our honeymoon to NZ and Aus which was also a fact finding mission to confirm we wanted to move out there to live and work. We decided NZ was the place for us.
NZ Immigration, via email, advised us to apply for an LTBV and for the last week we have been writing our business plan to accompany our application.
The plan is in 2 parts, the main one is for taking over an established luxury accommodation business, but we have heard that such a business would not be accepted for a long term business visa application. Our long term plans (within 3 years) are to also purchase a cafe/restaurant as well as a 4x4 to take tourists off roading. We have already contacted tourist information offices in the areas we understand need further development, as we would like to work closely with them.
Part 2 of the plan is for Martin to continue his design engineering business which he currently conducts from home.
We would not want to waste our time and energy, or anyone elses, preparing a business case which would automatically be rejected, so would you be able to confirm if this is indeed the case?
Incidentally we are both in our 50s and will need to get an application in before May 1st (Martin's 56th birthday). This is not an attempt to move overseas and retire, we intend to work for another 10-15 years at least.
