Freezing the peach glut !
Peaches are just like plums. First there are none and then there are HUNDREDS !:scaredhair:
Has anyone frozen peaches whole please? We've such a glut and I'd like to save some for laters in the Winter. Not sure I want to get into the sugar syrup in bags thing. I've sliced and frozen plums before now and that was OMK for crumbles. Can I freeze whole peaches  |
Re: Freezing the peach glut !
I would...
But if I was to do such, I would probably put them into syrop... OR... I would send them to my french friend in Auckland... ;) |

Re: Freezing the peach glut !
From this website:
http://community.tasteofhome.com/for...7/5525306.aspx How to freeze peaches! Let whole, unblemished peaches ripen - dead ripe. (I did not wash first) 2. Arrange whole peaches on a cookie sheet and place in freezer. 3. After peaches have frozen solid; place them in a plastic bag. 4. When you are ready to use, removed the desired number of peaches from the bag, run cold water over frozen peach and slip off the skin. 5. Microwave for 10 to 15 seconds. 6. Slice peaches to use as you desire for cereal toppings, pies or cobbler, ice cream, or simply slice them, add a little sugar if needed and enjoy. Peaches frozen this way taste just like peaches picked fresh from the tree. IF IN DOUBT, TRY A FEW! You will never freeze peaches any other way again. |

And from http://www.motherearthnews.com/Relis...g-Peaches.aspx
Drop the whole peach into a plastic sandwich bag, zip shut and toss in the freezer. When you want a fruit snack, just run the frozen peach under water for a moment, and the skin will slip off. Slice into a bowl and wait until the icy-ness is gone. |

Mate. I froze the peaches. They are sitting in the freezer like an arsenal of small cannon balls. Husband is eyeing warily.
