Post Freelancing for UK company - tax, setup etc?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and hoping someone can help me please.

I have dual citizenship NZ/UK, and about to move back to NZ permanently. My company here in London have offered me freelance work while I live in NZ.

I'm a bit confused about how to set this up - I will keep my UK bank account open, so I'm thinking of getting my employer to pay into that account, and then transferring it to my NZ account every few months, when the exchange rate is good. Are there any issues with being paid into a UK account, or keeping the money there for a while before bringing it into NZ? Would it be better to get my employer to pay directly into a NZ account?

For the first few months this will be my only form of income while I look for a job in NZ, and then after I have a full time PAYE job I will keep freelancing to make a bit of extra money on the side. Do either of these two scenarios require any other tax filing obligations etc?

I'm assuming I'll just need to file an IR3 form declaring this as overseas income, but is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks!

I did this for a couple of years. My employer sorted out UK tax exemption with the UK tax office and wages were paid directly into our NZ bank account. Filled in the IR3 at the end of the year. It was all straightforward & a nice exchange rate of over $3 to the pound at the time
