Default Flying on Tuesday, need some advice please

hi all

I fly to auckland this coming Tuesday from Manchester and we're just doing the final packing. We're in a slightly different situation to most in that we were in cayman, moved back here in January, waiting for visas which are now through. We have been living out of suitcases for a while and have obv bought stuff while we're here!

Our stuff is on route to nz from cayman, and we're just sorting out what we have in the uk. I fly first, hubbie and son in a week or so. I'm flying with Singapore who have told me I don't qualify for migrant baggage allowance as I only have. 3 yr visa. So I have a 30kg allowance, and excess baggage is 70us Per Kilo above that!!! I wasn't expecting excess baggage to be so high so now we need to look at alternatives.

Hubbies flights aren't booked yet so we could go with a different airline for him, but are all the excess baggage charges like this?

We're looking to packa box or too and ship that. Can anyone suggest the best way of getting that over there? Not too worried on timescale so sea freight is fine

Sorry I know there will be numerous posts on this already on the boards, but I don't have time to search the boards I'm afraid so would really appreciate any help you can give me

Thanks

Michelle

All airlines charge through the nose for excess luggage. Try this lot though - Contact Us - Manchester Airport - Excess Baggage Company you can just drop the excess stuff with them when you go to the airport. Much cheaper than airline rates, I've used them to Australia a few times.

After sending out main shipment I found a few things we wished we had packed with it... So I then sent two large boxes through seven seas worldwide. Really simple process, and they drop everything off to the house for you to pack then you arrange pick up when it's ready.

Thanks all. Am going to leave it to hubbie to sort after I've gone but most likely we'll get 7 seas in. I just want these next few weeks to be over lol
