Can anyone recommend an airline that is reasonable in price and is only 1 stop please? what is the quickest route?

Emirates and Singapore do a one stop from Manchester, about £650 one way in May

the only route with one stop now would be Emirates - manchester to Dubai then Dubai to Auckland, with the second leg being 17 hours and 15 mins! All other routes now have two stops.

So choices are Emirates or Singapore from Manchester or alternatively go to Heathrow first and then you will have a greater choice of airlines and fares.

My personal choices are Air New Zealand, Emirates and Singapore and dont mind which I use. Cost is always important but for such a long flight so too is comfort.

As Justcol said, expedia is a good starting point.

Singapore looks like it is one stop but all flights now stop for an hour in Munich each way. Outbound you have to disembark but on the return you have to sit on the plane for an hour while they check passports.

Is that why the flights inbound are longer than outbound?

I always thought the Emirates flights will touch down in Sydney for an hour or two. Well when I have travelled to Auckland from Sydney there is an Emirates option and it does appear that many other passengers have travelled from London, so that is a two stop flight.

They have a long direct flight now. There's also a direct flight from Doha with Qatar Airlines. I believe Qatar fly to Manchester as well
