Default Flights changes

Hi

Need some advice
We have booked our flights to NZ direct with Air New zealand, the flight is Heathrow to Shanghai by virgin atlantic then shanghai to Auckland with Air NZ and the same on the way back.
We just received an email from Air NZ saying our flight from shanghai to heathrow had been cancelled and that we would need to fly the next day 26hrs later. :curse:It appears that you need a visa to get into China and looking at the websites if you are at the airport for over 24 hrs you need a visa we will be there for 26hrs! Do you think we can get some sort of compensation or get virgin to pay for visa's so we can leave the airport. We depart for NZ in 2 weeks!
Any advice welcome x x
