Flight disruption in Nelson - is this common?

There have been news items over the last few days about flights being disrupted in and out of Nelson because of fog and/or low cloud.
Is this a common thing?
We are planning to fly to Nelson and back from Auckland towards the end of February/beginning of March.

I heard that on the news the other day and thought it was a bit odd. I think it might have been on the news because it was an uncommon thing, or it could have been a slow news day 🤔
we get a few delays down here with flights into Dunners being delayed or diverted due fog but not that often.

You can check arrival and departure times from past dates on the flightstats website or app
