WRT the Red Peak I like this image:

The voting papers are still lying there cluttering up the kitchen bench. I can't decide between:

a. Not to bother - yeah or nah
b. Spoil my paper in protest - yeah or nah
c. Vote for least favourite Koru one that nobody really wants - yeah or nah
d. Be a fine upstanding responsible person and fill the thing in 'properly'

Sent mine off with that awful red peak thing at no.5. Wish I had put that Koru one first now. Did the blue and black fern as no.1 but I think they are all crap. I shall be voting to keep the flag the same when that referendum comes around.

A spoilt paper is still counted. It shows that your vote is for none of those designs.

We sent ours back with a cross in each box

Just shows how pointless the whole exercise is, they may as well have sent the papers to all the kids at Kindy to do the voting.

I sent mine in reverse order of preference - just for badness sake.

"Sent mine off with that awful red peak thing at no.5"

You didn't have to vote for all of them! By putting a 5 against your least preferred flag you still gave it some points, however small instead of nothing.

I went 1 red peak 2 red blue fern and nothing else, didn't want anything else

How did the second most preferred first pick win the referendum? | Stuff.co.nz

... not one that anyone really wanted.

I put it down as my first choice in the hope that it would stop the awful red peak and the red, white and blue version from coming top!

Now let's just stick with the one we've got featuring

The 5 choices were all pretty darn poor OMVHO. If one had jumped out at me as being something to consider as a future emblem from all New Zealanders then I might have been swayed .

If it has to be a koru for some reason , then why not go the whole hog. Curled green and brown koru. Staying well away from current logos and sports emblems.

Just posted my vote - to keep the current flag.

I actually would be happy to change it but felt the option on offer did not represent most NZers. At least the union jack reflects the ancestry of many of us and also reminds us of the Treaty between Maori and the British. I would like to see some Maori symbolism on the new flag, alongside a recognition of the influence of the British Empire which was not all bad.

For me, the fern is a sporting symbol. I get irritated with the assumption that every kiwi loves rugby. When the RWC is on it's an opportunity to go shopping.
