Fisher and Paykel
Always thought of F&P as being 100% Pure NZ owned. I was looking for a new Fridge freezer in Harvey Normans here on Sat and saw F&P products with great big "Made in Queensland" stickers on them. Now how is that

It's one of them strange ones..... ask an Aussie about F&P and they'll argue black and blue it's a Queensland company...same as cadburys to someone from Tassie or even Holden being a true blue aussie bloke

Re: Fisher and Paykel
I don't recommend F&P fridge freezer. We bought a fridge and freezer & a freezer when we moved to NZ first time and they are the worst ever!
Symptoms of technical fault include
a) very low temperature in fridge so all veggies/foods constantly become frozen (how annoying is that???) - this is impossible to fix technically
b) we had to replace a fridge motor
c) frozen up behind fridge area including drain hole
d) Noise in fridge
e) a bad design
If you live in Australia then you can get a decent American two door fridge and freezer. They are pretty solid and steady. Bosch/Miele are great too.
Believe it or not we've had our American two door fridge and freezer-220V (bought in South Korea) at least 18 years now and it's still going strong after numerous house moves and two international relocations. No Problems at all!
My mum dislikes NZ/OZ white wares! (fed up spending money on repairing)

According to its site:
The company has manufacturing sites located in Auckland and Dunedin, New Zealand; Cleveland, Australia; Huntington Beach, California; Clyde, Ohio, USA and Italy.
And further copied:
Fisher & Paykel Appliances has been developing products and markets for over 70 years. Founded in 1934 by Maurice Paykel & Sir Woolf Fisher, has grown from humble beginnings to become one of New Zealands most enduring and successful businesses.
Chairman Gary Paykel says "Everyone who has been involved in the business should be proud of their contribution...they have all been part of its success."
My opinion, albeit a slightly cynical one:
NZ Company but smart enough to know to list on the Australian stock exchange and the NZ exchange and doubly smart to know that if made in Australia it is likely to be v. popular with Australians. (Australian made campaigns etc). Also is smart to know that when people are even more concerned about buy locally campaigns in other countries then it has an ‘in’.

Interesting thing is that Harvey Nichols left the sticker on - they are usually a bit smarter than that.

Both manufacturing and the technical/electronics?
Or am I just listening to scaremongering??
Nope, just half right as usual:
A planned shift of its laundry products and electronics factories to Thailand was progressing smoothly and an announcement on the location of a new North American DishDrawer facility was expected soon.

Re: Fisher and Paykel
C.C. We had a F&P fridge freezer back in NZ and it worked fine but it was an Iridium thingy with the cardboard-thin convex doors, picked up a bit of damage during a move so we sold it before we left.
I am a great fan of Miele appliances but couldn't really justify spending over 5 grand so just bought the biggest one that would fit into the space in the kitchen. The double door F/Fs are good I guess but the freezer section always looks a bit narrow and I hate having the salad drawer at ground level (I forget what's down there!)
F&P must truely be an international company in all respects, saw one of their fridges on a UKTV show last night, didn't realise they were based in so many countries KP!

we are renting our fridge freezer, microwave, vacuum cleaner and washing machine for $80 per month. Cuts out all the hassle of fixing or repairing
went to an auction and knackered old fridges were going for over $100 so we decided for the easy option
