This was in the Barbie...think that M & S aren't taking the VAT off like they should though.

In Oz there's no import tax under $1,000 so still can be good value.

Also Tesco are at it too.

I noticed this the other day with an Amazon order that VAT wasn't deducted, has the law changed in the UK?

Was the supplier Amazon (UK) itself?

I ordered a few DVDs the other day. Those direct from Amazon were VAT free, one from another supplier wasn't.

Worth keeping an eye on though. Don't think the law has changed but then I've been wrong before!

I see, so Amazon doesn't do the billing and small suppliers aren't informed about the tax law around export sales?

To be honest, I'm not sure how it works. But M & S dont deduct VAT. Not sure how they get away with it because I'm sure they don't hand it over to HMRC.

I'd think if you declared VAT on an invoice HMRC would want that revenue. Otherwise the contract is a dishonest representation of the transaction.

Quite correct. So, why don't they deduct it??? It's not doing them any good if they pay it.

Seems odd to me.
