'Fess up. Who has relit their woodburners this evening.

Flipping well chilly so we've done just that. The past few days were so warm and Spring like I had Mr BEVS take the wood logs to store under the house. He then found himself back under the house this evening to fetch the same logs back up . Oopsies.

well must admit I did go to start googling "how to make a fire" as MrF says I do not do it correctly, apparently needs to be a triangle or something. anyway looked around a bit thought "this is the kids area, they can put jumpers on.

Erm, although don't have an actual real live fire to light, our 'heating' hasn't been off yet.

Me but then I live in Tokoroa so no surprises there. Just moved from Taupo where last year I even had a fire in December! My old neighbour told me had to light a fire on Christmas Day one year!

[Mini-Rant]
How can you make a fire wrong? If it burns it is successful, if it burns the house down its just very successful. Can you imagine scout camp "I liked your fire but thought the arrangement of pine logs really let you down I'm afraid little Johnny, now you have to share a sleeping bag with catholic camp master Bruno."

This relentless pursuit of a pointless and futile perfection in mundane tasks just really annoys me, just so others can feel superior in their time wasting ability. It's like listening to middle class women wittering on about their extremely petty medical problems diagnosed by their "specialist" in a game of one upmanship. Ebola is a disease, feeling down on a rainy day is not.

So you enjoy your wonky, misfit, mutant fire MrsFrychan. As Francis Bacon once noted "There is no excellent beauty, that hath not some strangeness in the proportion."

I so totally believe you.

We only did this for our pusscat , age 15 , who could not put on an extra layer but settled himself down beside our halogen heater hoping it would be switched on.

We did. Poor hubby had to traipse to woodpile in far away corner in the pouring rain to collect some firewood. And just last weekend I was thinking of clearing out the ashes and making the log burner look like a decorative piece of furniture for the summer.:o

Well, it was 25 degrees on Sunday

Honestly? Southern Softies.

It was only two weeks ago it was summer. And it's still shorts and t-shirts weather here. Still sleeping in pyjama shorts with two windows wide open all night.

I wondered what everyone was on about. Still in my summer jammies here but I did put a cardi on to walk the dog last night so winter is on its way.

I'm led to believe that Mrs Bearskin has lots (used her wide angle lens). It's her insurance policy, so to speak. I know. You still got her details from before?

I have been known to walk the dog in my jammies, but not last night. I'm usually fully clothed when I leave the house!

The firewood did arrive today though. The delivery bloke did an excellent job of wodging it onto the patch of earth to the side of the driveway. Meant I didn't for once have to dash out and barrow it all away instantly - but can do at my leisure. I rather unnecessarily put a large tarpaulin over it all (i mean, it's only wood), but there you go.

Hilariously, the neighbour popped round to tell me that somewhere amongst it there is a cellphone. Seems today was a special 'cellphone with every delivery day' lol.

I went to countdown today and felt very under dressed in shorts and t.shirt, everyone had coats and boots on! What's that all about? It was 20 degrees!

Re: 'Fess up . Who has relit their fires this evening.

Well, it was about 28 degrees a few days ago, so the temperature has dropped. And there was this weird water falling from the sky at some point.

Yes sounds nice but in reality the beer garden is usually full of drunks who over do it drinking in the afternoon and poor kids waiting for their parents to take them home and it's freezing but everyone pretends it's not!

Re: 'Fess up . Who has relit their fires this evening.

It's almost ten degrees where I live today and we've had 48hrs without any rain, totally shocking, although the usual biting wind is here.

I went out this morning to do some gardening and only had to wear knee length thermal socks, winter weight trousers, a thermal polo top, sweatshirt, fleece lined wind proof coat and thermal bunnet. It's definitely Spring as the thermal longjohns that I wear under this lot in winter were left in the drawer

You could definitely tell we were foreigners in some parts of NZ as we were in t-shirts and commenting how warm it was when everyone else was in jumpers.

Eh? I thought you were in Auckland .

Easy answer on the beer garden issue. Find another.

Nice glass of crisp cider or half a lager with a ploughmans tea. Somewhere in the New Forest or over The Purbecks ,as the long twilight falls. After a late afternoon walk. Loverley.
