Favourite Season in NZ?
I haven't posted a poll before, so given the absolutely spectacular autumn sunset outside the window, I thought I'd give it a go!
My favourite season over here has to be Autumn:
Summer is depressing because it is Christmas time.
Winter is depressing because it is not Christmas time.
Spring is nothing special.
Your thoughts?

No Littletoe - if that is indeed your name. Go argue with Genesis . No room for that attitude on this thread! :curse:

Has to be Summer. I find Christmas much better in the heat

I will have to vote for summer too, but your description of autumn is spot on, the log burner is on, the summer salads are finished, barbeque goes into hibernation, casserole cookware makes another appearance, I admit it is good in the autumn, the colours of the trees.....and in winter the view of the mountains with their snow capped peaks are fab, as long as I am in the warm car! But by the end of August I will be thoroughly fed up and scratching around for my togs
err... can I vote twice?

I vote for spring,
I hate the summer; humidity, flies, noisy cicadas, mosquitoes, noisy neighbours drinking outside and the smell of rancid BBQ fat wafting in the air.
I hate winter even more; the damp, the cold and the smell of a million logburners, with endless rain and more rain.

Re: Favourite Season in NZ?
Spring as I love the light for photography, hate having to cover up from the sun and slip, slap, slop for every 2 minutes in the sun.
By Spring, "Smokey-Joe" our neighbour has either (i) figured out how to operate his wood burner or (ii) run out of lumber so that there is less smoke in our garden (at the level of his chimney - yuk!!).
Seems wetter to me in the Autumn than in spring and I like a good blow of wind about the place so that's ok in Spring.
Winter is too damp with too many crying windows and clammy mornings.
Just getting to the end of the winter football season and so the less serious summer soccer is on the horizon - great.
Plus everything is starting to come back into bloom, etc. So there's hope and the prospect of new life - plus MrsL gets more randy. Greaaattt......!!!!
