Re: EXPOS " are they worth going to ?"
Hi
We went to one in Olympia a few months back and for us it was a complete waste of time and money.
We found them not be informative, no one really knew what they were talking about and would email us (still waiting!) and if you want to queue up for hours just to try to speak to someone in government regarding visas etc well good luck.
The people were friendly enough don't get me wrong but we wasted the best part of £100 on rail fares and tickets to get in.
We've found this forum and a couple of others to be the best way to find out information and in our opinion save the money you would spend on going to an Expo and treat yourselves to something nice or put towards your move!
Hope this helps.

If you are a teacher, builder, doctor, nurse, electrician etc then yes. Otherwise do not bother going. I have been to 3 and there was nothing for IT.

Looks like there is no point in us going lol
Hubby is in IT and that was the main reason we were gonna go!! No point otherwise.
I have found out all the info i need about immigration etc so dont need to ask them about that. Not sure then if its worth spending £250 to get there and back and for a hotel for the night!
Oh well back to the drawing board lol

Also could be useful if you have a particular area in mind and want to get the low-down on where you can get sections, etc - threre are usually people from Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Hawkes Bay (AFIRecall) Chch and Wellington promoting their areas with local knowledge to share - just ask em.....NZIS are useful to ask dumb questions of and get paperwork from. Plus their short presentations on immigration "routes" are useful as are the district health boards' ones on their structures and recruitment.
You can leave your details with various employers, agencies, etc and we got a couple of good leads from our visit plus a sort of informal interview for MrsL.
Horses for courses I suppose.
Wiz - I recall seeing Hays at the London one (2 or maybe 3 yrs ago) and they were helpful, there was another agency there but they weren't great and the year before (Manchester) there were two or three agencies with a specialist engineering one that I talked to.
Looking at the economy at the moment and how migrant flows have changed over the past couple of years you might get a different set of exhibitors and fewer general agencies now as its all getting "tighter" on the job front.
Good luck.

Cheers all for the answers. I've pitched it so will see if I score a home run
Good luck to all those going to expo's this year - I hope they work out well worth it for you.
