Experience of using Pickfords for shipping your posessions.
Morning all
We are close to making a decision on who to use to transfer our worldly possessions and car to NZ and Pickfords are looking a serious contender at the moment.
We are just short of having enough to completely fill a 40ft container and they have quoted us on the basis of a shared move. The others ( PSS and Anglo Pacific ) have currently quoted on a sole basis and are coming in around £700-800 more expensive at the £5600-5700 mark.
Just interested in understanding how many people may have had experiences of using Pickfords and more specifically with a 'shared container' approach and how you would rate them?
Many Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

The service so far has been good, and the packing was very efficient and professional. They were extremely helpful when one of the cars we were shipping broke down just before we left (typical!), and they arranged specialist transport for us without making any extra charge.
I can obviously only vouch for half of the service as we have yet to see what they're like at the New Zealand end, but so far I've been satisfied with the service.

I can't help with shared containers, but we sent two full container loads with Pickfords last week. Their quote for us was quite a bit less than other quotes we received.

Good to know and thanks for the quick feedback. Will give it a few more days and see who else comes back before finalising the decision. Have a good one.

I've already replied to your previous question - but yes, we used Pickfords to share a 40ft container, saved on a lot of worry as to how much stuff we had...would it or would it not fit in a 20ft (answer - no!) and we would certainly recommend them, can't fault their professionalism or service (make sure you haggle on insurance to get their quote down further!)

We used Pickfords 3 years ago now or more! We found them great and when the stuff got here it was a very easy transition from wharf to house and maf included! I would recommend them based on our experience! Good luck with whoever you decide to go with.

Pickfords were great (and cheapest) for us with sole use of a 20ft. very efficient packing and wrapping. arrived on time and finished well before they estimated. in NZ. the communication was excellent, and again very organised. container arrived in just over 6 weeks without a hitch. they arranged all the forms i needed to sign and MAF inspection at our house. only one item damaged (the flimsy back of some IKEA book shelves). they unwrapped everything and re assembled beds, tables etc,,. then duly collected the rest of the packing material of the boxes we didnt want unpacking immediately,
the only problem we had was they brought the wrong container to our house!! but that wasn't Pickfords fault.
good luck with it all

Although they are a competitor of mine they have always had a good reputation in our industry they have gone through some major changes in the last few years for the better.

We used Pickfords for our NZ - Australia move and they were fine.
It's no so much the company but the quality of the teams you happen to get on the day, that's pot luck as much as anything and even a good team can have their off days.
The biggest no no is never, ever, ever allow your belongings to be put into crates and stored in a warehouse during a move. In my experience that's where things get stolen and get broken and damaged.

All, thanks very much for your responses. It looks likely that we will use Pickfords as they have come in way below the other companies.
