"Evening Classes" in NZ
Hi folks
After a number of searches on googles.co.nz Im struggling to find out whether or not evening classes are such a thing in NZ. Looking for vocational short courses in art (painting, drawing) and photography. Also interested in maybe doing a art and design foundation course part-time - if OH will let me get away with not working full-time
Do you they exist in either of the following areas we are considering at the moment:
Wellington area - 30 mins surrounding areas
Bay of Plenty
Whangarei
Any help/pointers you can give on the educational system much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Elsie .
I can't help you with the areas you are looking at, but just thought I would let you know that Nelson and Bays has a very good selection of part-time evening classes. Many are through the local polytechnic which has a continual programme of subjects and also runs some weekend and school holiday short courses as well as evening classes. .

Try looking on www.boppoly.ac.nz - the site for the polytech at Tauranga. They do have part time courses, both day and evening for gaining qualifications.
There is the Open Polytechnic too, being correspondence courses NZ-wide. www.openpolytechnic.ac.nz
I'm guessing that there will be courses of some sort available in all three areas you've mentioned. Wellington will have Victoria University offering something too. Waikato University have a campus in the Bay of Plenty too, just in case you wanted a diploma/degree qualification.

There are loads of evening classes in our town Rotorua.
At the moment I'm learning Spanish, with 2 friends. One of whom has done evening classes to train as a coffee-shop Barista and Sommellier (? spelling ), her day job is being a doctor !!

Melanie did an evening course in Indian cookery at Tawa College. I enjoyed the results immensely!
They did loads of different ones, all around the $60 mark for about 8 weeks.
