Employment agreements - notice
Hi
A quick question. What's the standard notice period for office jobs here in NZ?
Is there a standard? It's office work so nothing executive level etc. I would expect a month. Can anyone please confirm or let me know what I should be expecting/
Thanks a lot

Hi CK,
I think the normal notice is 14 days, you will find the information on the labour site.
I hope this helps
Regards
Stan

Re: Employment agreements - notice
Hi
Thanks for the reply.
I've checked the labour web site, chamber of commerce, etc. I cannot find anywhere that says what the 'standard' is.
So I was hoping those of you with contracts could tell me what your notice periods are and I can check it against an average of people on here?
Thanks

Re: Employment agreements - notice
The average would be two weeks notice but some contracts vary.
The usual gauge is how frequently you get paid if you are paid fortnightly you should give two weeks notice, monthly 1 months notice.
Best to do is check your contract if you don't have one just leave.

From the labour department site...
Resignation
Employees may resign at any time, provided they give reasonable notice (i.e. saying ahead of time what date they plan to leave). What is reasonable will depend on the circumstances, such as length of service or seniority, or what is agreed in the employment agreement.
