Hi All,

Just wondering how much the average Electricity bill (Monthly) is in NZ?

We have a 4 Bedroom house running electric radiators, not on all day, but we use them daily.

We have a 4 bed house, 3 kids, no rads but under floor heating in the bathroom that we can't find out how to switch off :curse: and use oil filled rads ( very ocassionally) and our average bill is around $200ish. We are actually awaiting this months bill as we speak

Are you running the pool still ??

Not sure how much you will pay and a lot depends upon your standards of hygene (the water heater runs up the leccy if you take lots of baths), insulation, etc. Our bills rage from $170 (last month) to about $220 when they messed up and over-estimated. Anything from $150 to $350 I've read. The last house was over the summer and may have been about $80 a month!

I can suggest the method used for isolating the power to underfloor heating surrounding an outdoor pool I heard about recently - it involves a tile cutter and a bloke who forgot to check where the ends of the element loops were - ooppps. Otherwise you could switch off all circuits and then switch each one back on whilst monitoring the meters movements........just a thought!

Whole bl**dy house is wired up very strangley, been here 7 weeks and still not figured out whats covered on Economy and when the tarfiff kicks in. No info on the power company's website either ( now there's a surprise )

mmm.....is it just the hot water cylinder on economy or the heating too?
post a picture on here of the meter board and the fuse board and I'll try to figure it out - that's all part of my job description!

$535 ... WTF???!!!

Underfloor heating 2 bathrooms, + 2 heated twoel rails (underfloor heating hardly ever on!)

Pool - unheated but pump/filter running.

5 bedrooms, 2 x electric heaters.

Next month we are using mainly candles and playing cards round a paraffin lamp!

Our total fuel bill for gas and electricity for the last 3 months:

We think the first one was estimated and the second one was higher as it was the correct reading and they bunged the extra from the month before on. The third was after we tried economising. The next one will be a lower one hopefully as we will have been economising for a full month on that one instead of halfway through the month. We have instant hot water, 3 bedrooms, heated towel rail and fan heater in the bathroom, heat pump at one end of the house and very sparse use of heaters in the bedrooms. Really tried to cut back on the tumble drier. We use the DVS every night and have no crying windows.

You did note down the reading on arrival oh fairy-like one?
Maybe worthwhile checking just in case - most likely you filled in the form they sent you, that's what we did. :-)
