Default Electrician working in christchurch new zealand

Hi I'm a electrician looking to work in Christchurch I'm looking into getting a holiday visa and just heading out there then looking to get registered with the electrical governing body is this the right way to do it?? And do I need to be registered before I start work or would companies recognise English qualifications and take me on anyway? any help will be great thanks

you would have to be registered to get work and take some exams, I believe, before they will allow you to go off and do stuff on your own.

If you are under 30 , you could look at getting a working holiday visa.

Companies won't recognise your UK trade quals. What an NZ company will recognise is NZ registration. I think you have to do n EWRB health and safety course + a couple of other test to gain provisional registration. That would allow you to work in your trade under strict supervision until you were able to gain your full NZ registration.
