Right, I've had a few notes about registering to vote on election day

I've been told that it is compulsory for me to register but I am unsure whether I'm eligible. The person who came round yesterday informed me that since I'm a resident, I have to enrol? I thought that you have to be in the country for 12 months in order to do so

Anyone else in a similar situation. Even if you are not eligible to vote, you are still required to register? I don't think it would be fair for me to register since I've only been here less than 3 months but it would help to get a better understanding.

I think you are correct about the 12mths as remember reading it on the forms when we first came over so did nothing about it. don't have the forms this time round as we are now registered. looking on the website it does state that you have lived for more than 12mths continuously to be able to enrol

they know nothing, when we arrived they kept sending my 14 year old son election letters, then came round to ensure all were registered
I said "hang on I'll get him for you" and that was the end of it
