well I was in the chch earthquakes so became quite an earthquake nerd and read up on it - unfortunately quakes come in seasons of approx 100 years. Nz has been lucky thus far but is now in for a bumpy ride for a while, so can expect large quakes and volcanoes as the new normal. sorry!

Oh right .

Just what you need. A doom merchant & scaremonger.

Thank you so much for sharing that.

It helps.

Not.

This is not helpful. You do not know that. Are you a seismologist or geologist? Do you work for Geonet? Are you in anyway qualified to make this type of statement! Or are you scaremongering?

Please bear in mind people's nerves will be on edge.

I'm with you Catcha. It is a shitty , trollish type thing to post.

People that were in the ChCh quakes haven't and wouldn't post like that.

Further, I have also read up. It is not as you say.

We can't predict but we can try to do the best we can with what we have.

Australia has lived year on year with bush fires and drought. They cope and manage.

My Dad lived through the Blitz and worse. He lived a good life thanks to optimism & a great , strong spirit.

We can get scared and wish it wasn't so but we just make the best of and continue. As we would anywhere.

Live and learn Shocked Kiwi.

Not exactly peer reviewed science though. Take what you read on sources like the Herald and Stuff with a pinch of salt.

Ok, it's enough now. Again, much of this is conjecture. One of your links sights climate change as a cause for goodness sake. I am surprised you have not referenced the Moon Man.

I am writing this as aftershocks shake my house, so I am very aware that we are all at risk at any moment.

Any further posts in this vein will not be tolerated.

After looking on GeoNet it must be like being on a coaster roller , there seem to be just minutes between each shake.........keep safe and I hope that it all quietens down soon

Im going to sleep in the lounge with Bella, Im home alone this weekend and the bedroom is at the end of the house with security locks on the windows so would feel trapped. The lounge would be better for a quick escape.
Now very pleased we bought a single storey house. Stay safe.
