DTV - Analog to Digital
...or is it vice versa? Has anyone bought a converter box for their old TV set(s) yet? I registered for a $40 coupon, but every box I have seen at Best Buy or Radio Shack is at least $59.99. I wonder if those prices will come down closer to next February....
The best reviewed one in my price range I have seen is the one from Zenith. Luckily I only have one analog TV to worry about.

It's analogue to digital....I can't be arsed, sticking to basic cable...only because it's much cheaper having the package than to go rabbit ears and a separate phone/internet package....which is bizarre...

In the US, do all current LCD/PDP models available in the shops have a DTV tuner built in, like the freeview ones in the UK?

My preference woul dbe to ditch the telly and go with faster net service. Soomeone else in the household doesn't feel the same way though

If you have cable or satellite, you shouldn't need to bother with the converter box. You need the converter box if you are receiving your TV signal via the TV's antenna.

Yeah - I have Dish in the living room but the "Farmer Five" in the bedroom with the rabbit ears, so I'll need one for that.

To the best of my knowledge the answer is "yes" for all currently available models and has almost certainly been "yes" for at least the last 2 years or so.

Received my coupon yesterday and went along to Worst Buy to redeem it as I had a gift card to use. The only one they have is the Insignia NSDXA1. I got it home, hooked it up (which took all of 2 minutes) and I've gone from 5 channels to 12
They all look great. The 2 extra PBS channels are awesome.

I'm gonna get the $40 one from Dish Network (Free unit after coupon with $9 shipping) as I see it has a decent review on CNet and it has a kick-a$$ on screen programming guide. The Insignia (similar to the Zenith) only has current and next program, but the DN has 12 hours.

My two coupons are on the way.
I had two earlier in the year and no one had the boxes so they expired before I could find a box to buy. So my friend ordered two more for me (seeing they won't re issue them )
I can't wait to get more channels and a better picture, the boxes are about $59.99 here to so you get $40 off. $20 is so bad I suppose to put out to get HD
