Just look for young Maori with red or blue bandanas on......counsel them, I'm sure they'll appreciate your input

Perhaps Social Detox in federal St, or the salvation Army Bridge Programme, Higher Ground in Te Atatu....Odyssey House.
I haven't heard of many people (any people) taking volunteers. Students yes.
There is body called Drug and Alcohol Practitioners Association of Aotearoa New Zealand that strives to maitain excellent work standards in this area.
What is yr background?

I am actually a fully qualified Counsellor. I shouldve made that clear. I'm looking to pursue my career here. I would like to work as a volunteer so I can gain hours towards being accredited.

Do your hours overseas not count?
New migrants certainly get work at the AOD service that I work for.
They have to join DAPAANZ but there are different levels of membership.

If you ever get bored in NZ perhaps you could do some study that enables you to tell the difference between cultures around the Pacific Islands, including NZ Maori.

Re: Drug and alcohol volunteer counselling in Auckland
Hi very interested in this as I work as a Criminal Justice Worker/Drug Intervention Programme in the UK at the moment, but hopefully we'll be in NZ by March next year and Ii would love to stay working in this field, but am finding it a bit difficult tracking down jobs in this area. If anyone has any helpful tips would appreciate the advice. Thanks
