That's what we are reduced to now. Community support officers patrol the streets and the Highways Agency patrol the Motorways it's a cheaper way to fly the flag. When trouble breaks out they radio in for support ,hence the concerns of the UK public, by the time they radio back and a massively stretched real police officer arrives the problem is well gone or too late.
Our police station, like a lot of others in smaller towns or rural areas has been shut down and replaced by a Community Support office.
