Hi, so long as you do it within a year you only have to do a theory test. 30 or so multiple guess questions. I think you can get three wrong. Eye sight test too. Get it done at any AA or VTNZ shop.

The Scratch & Win multiple choice questions are long gone:

So it is even easier now!!! Does not make sense IMHO when one looks at the driving carnage in this country. It seems silly that because you are from a certain country you are deemed ‘fit to drive’. Personally I think every new person who wishes to reside here should have to do a test, me included. But I only had to do a theory test back in 2005, which to be fair a monkey could pass.....and I did.

Apparently, in China you are not allowed to drive when you are on vacation there. Mind you, that may well be about controlling one’s movements.

It's been that way 12 years now, and seems fair enough if passed a test which was of similar or higher standard. As to deaths on road, I doubt those casued by migrants are different from kiwi born average.

A normal car licence you just swap over.
Go to AA and get a photo done and eye test. Then pay 20 dollars I think. swap the licence over.
That's what my wife done anyways.

I had a heavy goods licence.
I had to get a medical cert and do a theory test and they exchanged all my licences categories over.
pretty straight forward.
