It's one of New Zealand's fastest growing cities so that must say something about its popularity.

I've been there a couple of times and it looked like it is an attractive and pleasant place to live. From the accounts written here by people who have moved to Tauranga there hasn't been too much grumbling.

Our mates who've now returned to UK told us they were unable to sit out on the deck there in the evenings like we can in Taupo. The wind blew their furniture about.

I am sure recent articles have given Tauranga as the most expensive house prices compared to salary. Closely followed by Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton and Wellington.

Our daughter and family moved to Papamoa Tauranga in 2006 and love it there. We went last year for 1 month and thought it was a lovely place and so is the surrounding area.

It seems a pleasant city, built on a meandering wide river near Bay of Plenty, not far to Whakatane. Plenty of facilities. Good communications, not that far from Auckland

I've heard its awesome, never heard a bad word about it..unlike where I live!!! BUT I understand it is so popular that the housing is big $ and obviously there will be LOTS of people...like lots.

Good thing about living in a perceived shite house is that houses are cheap and there's not too many people per square metre!!!
