Does anyone live in/around Taupo?
Hi all,
Clive has just accepted a job offer in and around Taupo and Rotorua We still have to get the visas and medicals sorted but assuming all will be well, can anyone give us more of an idea of what it's like to live there and most importantly any good primary schools you can recommend? All we know is that Rotorua is smelly

Hello
We live in Rotorua and have done for almost 4 years.
Sorry to disapoint you, but the smell is only piped in for the benefit of the tourists. If you are local there is no smell
There are VERY few areas with the sulphur smell and Rotorua is far more affordable house wise than Taupo.
Any specific questions just ask.

We've seen pictures and it looks amazing and the houses for sale that we've seen on the web look beautiful. Who knows, the Beverly Hillbillies may soon be moving to a street near you .......lol.
Bit worried about the volcano though.

I loved Taupo-dead jealous. Don't worry about the volcano-just move up-wind-you'll be fine.

Cheers for that, we're getting really excited about it. Haven't told the kids about the volcano yet though, they're 6 and 7 and they'll poo themselves
