anything beats brummie - having said that i spoke with a couple kiwis recently, two of whom mistook me for an Ozzie!!! not the first time i have been accused of being australian. A mix of brummie, staffs and cambridge. poor me.

We need a option for...
"Don't know I can't tell the difference anymore been here to long"!!!!!!
Thats what I would choose...
However I am very aware that when I talk to peaple back home I end sentances with 'AYY"
How embarrassing!!!!!!!

I'm a bit like that now but I think it's more because of living with a Kiwi for 12 years than actually being here Mr Batty is from Welly and he was told by an Aucklander friend of mine recently that his accent is 'cultured' I wouldn't like to lose my accent though - it's a great conversation starter

Is "AYY" like "Eh?" for the Canadians? Like "Heat me up a beer, eh?" because it's so bloomin' cold there! LOL

My wife has a unique Thai-American English-Kiwi accent and she talks about a mile a minute. Yes, people do look at me all the time with confused looks and I'm stuck saying, "What she means is..."

Hee hee. So "going one-point-six kilometres a minute" doesn't exactly translate?

My mate has to tell me that folk are british cos unless it is really obvious I can't tell now. Course the kiwis can tell my Yorkshire accent is different but cos I come from Leeds they often ask me if I am from Ireland

Could be worse Sky, I have been asked if I am from Liverpool!
(hope Ian aint reading this)
Then asked if I am from Scotland.
Then Ireland.
One girl got it right though, she told me I was from Coronation Street
Ok, nearly right.

I'm practising my Kiwi accent so will appear fluent in their language!! Especially the bit where I can ask to sit on my neighbour's "dick!!"

Re: Do you like the New Zealand accent?
Voted option 1 Just because I want to make my accent even more complicated for people to take a guess where I'm really from Most kiwis think I'm Canadian but my dad's a Frenchman (Parisian) and mom is from Chicago.
Been living with a kiwi (Aucklander) for 3 yrs now so a little used to it but it's great being in NZ and hearing all the other types of accents from all over the country
