In my drinks cupboard you will find everything from French Brandy, English Gin, Scottish whisky, Canadian Club, American Bourbon, Mexican tequila, Caribbean Rum and Russian Vodka. Not a drop of local to offer though...but we must make some proper drinks in New Zealand? I mean wine and beer are fine refreshments but where do locals turn if they want a real drink?

I used to buy 42 Below Vodka but it was very underwhelming. Not a patch on the good stuff really.

You might like to try this: http://www.distillers.co.nz/resources.html

Just thank god you've never had Bundaberg Rum. They make a nice ginger beer though.

there's too much home brewing going on to uphold a domestic distillery!

South Gin is pretty good, not a patch on Tanqueray Nn.10 but better than your general Gordons rubbish

The Prenzel distillery in Blenheim is supposed to produce a good range of spirits and liquors.

I do not often touch the hard stuff, not since a really bad encounter with Southern Comfort back when I was 19 *shudders*

It smells like the glue you get for air fix models.

That said I find new make whisky spirits interesting in an educational type way (though not a patch on the finished product).
