DIY UK Pension transfer to NZ

Has anyone successfully transferred their UK private pension to NZ themselves without having to pay a financial advisor?

Yes, it was easy via Westpac (they do all the paperwork, once I provided them with a statement from my UK pension provider).

I must point out that it is a very, very small pension. I would have contacted an advisor for a larger amount to shop around for the best deal.

I understand there can be problems should you wish to transfer it back to the UK at anytime in the future.

I hope I don't regret the above remark.

Me, I transferred mine no problem with AMP. Took a while but was relatively easy on my part.

Lisamct,

I think you transferred from the NHS. Could you share with me the options / details?

Thanks

Yep I transferred from the NHS.
I transferred to AMP, I called them up and said I wanted to bring my pension over, they sent me some forms, I completed them and sent them back and they did the rest, it really was that simple. Took about 4 months from start to finish.

I have no real reason for using AMP except that they were the 'default' company my employers used for Kiwisaver so they were the easiest option at the time, now its here I'm looking to find the actual best place to put it.
